Kiangundo is situated in Nyeri County of Kenya and has approximately 690 members who deliver coffee to the
factory. This factory is part of the Kiama Cooperative Farmers Society who represent around 3000 farmers in this
district across 4 different factories. During the harvest, the members will delivery their cherry where it is then
separated on cherry quality before being pulped and floated to add a secondary quality control process. After this it
is left to ferment for in tiled tanks for 16- 24 hours before then being washed and graded again before resting in a
tank underwater for 24 hours. After this, it is then taken to drying tables where it will dry for between 7-14 days
usually down to 11% moisture.From here the coffee is then taken to the Kahara Bowa mill in Thika where
Sucastainability help mill, grade and market the coffee to be sold either via the auction or directly to end buyers.
